An open wound, attempts to explore the auditory and visual landscape of the Rio Bravo as a physical body that has witnessed political violence by both the US and Mexico governments. Investigation into the landscape and personal narratives are undertaken but left behind to instead make sense through the aesthetics of death. In An open wound, the red river water points to Gloria Anzaldua’s quote “The U.S-Mexican border es una herida abierta where the Third World grates against the first and bleeds. And before a scab forms it hemorrhages again, the lifeblood of two worlds merging to form a third country — a border culture.”

Una herida abierta, intenta captar el paisaje auditivo y visual del Río Bravo como un cuerpo físico que ha sido testigo de violencia política por parte de los gobiernos de Estados Unidos y México. La investigación de campo y las narrativas personales se llevan a cabo, pero se dejan atrás para que tengan sentido a través de la estética de la muerte. En Una herida abierta, el agua del río rojo apunta a la cita de Gloria anzaldúa "La frontera entre Estados Unidos y México es una herida abierta donde el Tercer Mundo rechina contra el primero y sangra. Y antes de que se forme una costra, vuelve a sangrar, la sangre vital de dos mundos se fusionan para formar un tercer país: una cultura fronteriza ”.
